Passing the ensemble of the Sensenschmiede Museum, the trail leads via Heiligenkreuz and along the old Ottsdorf church path to Ottsdorf. The trail leads through the Erlgraben to the Grassnerkreuz and on to Sattelhald and Gradnalm. The way back leads from Sattelhald over the Kremsursprung.
Trail number: K93
Directions:
From the parking lot you walk past the ensemble of the Sensenschmiede Museum. Continue via Heiligenkreuz and along the old Ottsdorf church path. Between fields and meadows you hike comfortably to Ottsdorf. In flying weather, gliders can be observed here during take-off and landing.
The path through the Erlgraben then takes you to the Grassnerkreuz and further on a footpath through beautiful forests to Sattelhald. Hopefully you've taken enough to drink, as there are few places to stop for refreshments on this hike.
From there, continue to the Gradnalm with its alpine hut, which is only open intermittently. Here the view to the Kremsmauer is overwhelming.
On the same path you hike back to the Sattelhald and downhill to the Krems spring, where the Krems gushes out of the rock as a small water body. If you follow the course of the Krems, you will return to the starting point via the Pfustergut (beautiful wrought iron cross) in the village of Micheldorf.
Tip:
Climate-friendly to the National Park Region - railway station Micheldorf in Oberösterreich: By train you can reach the starting point for this hike in about 1 hour from Linz and in about 2.5 hours from Vienna.
Safety guidelines:
No gastronomy along the way, so bring drinks and a snack if needed.
The Gradnalm mountain hut is open from 1 May to 31 October. Drinks and snacks are available at weekends. For groups, catering is also available during the week on request.
Currently only open in good weather!
