2 Summit Run in the Raming Valley
Loop course with a length of 13.5 km and 2,434 ft ascent. Very nice view over the Upper Austrian pre-Alps. The hilly summit landscape of the surroundings creates a great panorama.
Directions:The route starts at the bus stop in the town center by the church. We run in the direction of the Wolfsjäger Chapel, which is located just behind the church. Straight ahead over a meadow path, we reach the Schüssleder Chapel. Behind it, it goes downhill over meadows to the Unterbuchschachner campground. A short section on the road, then right steeply uphill over a lane. At the Stubauer farm, we reach the Arthoferberg main road, which we now follow to the Dichtlberger farm. Behind the farm, the forest road begins, leading us towards Arthofberg. At km 2.9 we turn right and now run steeply uphill over alpine meadows towards Arthofberg, a short section through the forest and then we reach the summit cross of Arthofberg (2,822 ft). It continues briefly again through the forest, downhill over alpine meadows to a signpost at the Durchlaufner forest road. Here you follow the forest road in the direction of the Glasenberg summit. Past a barrier and then steeply uphill on a trail through the Böchgraben, over meadows to the summit of Glasenberg (3,188 ft). Wonderful panoramic view of the nearby Lindaumauer, Freithofberg, Sonntagberg, etc. It continues downhill to the Glasner hut.
Here we can refill our water supply. After the hut, we keep right. At Vorderglasnergütl, it goes left downhill to Hautzenlehengütl. In the Höllgraben through a short forest section, over a small wooden bridge. From here, it goes about another kilometer uphill towards the town center. Our run ends directly at the church in Maria Neustift.
Tip:If possible, you should definitely stop at the Gasthaus Schaupp (directly next to the church in the center of the village) and enjoy the legendary baked goods from the wood oven and other regional specialties.
Equipment:The required equipment always depends on the respective route and the weather conditions. Regarding provisions: This is very individual, and it is recommended to have more rather than less equipment and provisions with you. A 3-mile round in the valley requires less than a demanding mountain route. The weather can change quickly, and if you are not constantly moving or need to take a break, warming clothing is very important, for example.
